lyrics
Wading in the water
I was the color blue
I tried to tilt my head back
And let my thoughts swim loose
They circled round like watersnakes
Then disappeared into the lake
I watched the ripples scatter in their haste
I watched the ripples scatter in their haste
Didn’t they tell me
Don’t run on an empty head
If I was listening I didn’t hear what they said
Their words all hissed like watersnakes
And though the noise cut like a blade
I told myself it’s not worth being afraid
I told myself it’s not worth being afraid
Round and round the wheel
It’s not what they say it’s how they make you feel
Maybe I don’t know
I’m the moon’s reflection on the lake dark and cold
I always fall for the mirrors and the smoke
I woke up in the garden
Carpeted by light
Back to where I started
Tiny sprouts of life
They surfaced just like watersnakes
Their tiny heads had come to make
The circle that my fingers softly trace
the circle that my fingers softly trace
Round and round the wheel
It’s not what they say it’s how they make you feel
Maybe I don’t know
I’m the moon’s reflection on the lake dark and cold
I always fall for the mirrors and the smoke

This album can transport you to a fun place with Leon Bridges singing and Khruangbin supporting him with their fantastic music. I love everything about this vinyl and am so glad I got the lunar press! Thank you all so much! Michelle May
I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop

This Nashville trio make ultra-catchy indie rock (in the '90s sense of the term) with taut musicianship and a freewheeling spirit. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 2, 2021
